If you live in Arizona, you may have received a letter from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT_ informing you that they don’t have active car insurance on file for you.

In this letter they threaten to suspend your registration within 15 days if you don’t respond and prove you have insurance. The letter is titled “Action Required Insurance Suspension”.

This can be a scary letter to receive and your first inclination may be to call your insurance company or broker to yell at them and ask why they didn’t do their job. The truth is that it’s not their fault.

ADOT has moved to a new online system called AZ MVD Now (https://azmvdnow.gov/). With the move to this new system there have been some errors and this is what has caused these letters to go out. So it’s not your fault or your insurance companies fault.

The good news is that you can go and fix this yourself in about 3 minutes. The above video will walk you through the process of verifying your car insurance information with the State of Arizona.
